Physical Description

Rosa has all the appearances of a tall and curvy Mexican señorita.  Her black hair is long and wavy when down from wearing it in a tight bun while she works.  Most often, she wears vibrantly colored dresses in the typical Spanish off-the-shoulder style, and high laced boots.  Only her eyes serve as a hint to her Indian heritage, and even this is not discernable at a casual glance.

Rosa carries a Colt peacemaker hidden beneath the folds of her skirts, and a rifle is always strapped to her Appaloosa, which she almost always rides bareback.

Personality

Rosa is as sweet and friendly as they come, but she has a stubborn streak a mile wide.  She normally has a good disposition, and is slow to anger, but when she or someone she cares for is provoked, her Apache blood turns cold, and she is a force to be reckoned with.

Background/Stories

Rosalita Moondance Aguilero is the daughter of Manuel Aguilero, a Mexican bounty hunter of some fame, and Stone Flower, his young Apache wife.  Stone Flower died giving birth to Rosa, and she was raised by her father in the town of Nogales.

On the numerous occasions that Manuel had to be away pursuing his profession, Rosa was left in the care of her mother's tribe.  She had a great fondness for her grandfather, Walks In Thunder, who was the tribe's well respected Medicine Man.  She was almost always found hovering about his teepee, or following him about on treks to the forest.  Walks In Thunder always pretended she was a nuisance, but it was obvious to all who knew him that he was quite taken with her.

Rosa learned much of the Indian ways of medicine - herbal remedies and Spirit guidance, and when she was old enough, she decided she wanted formal training in order to become a doctor.  Manuel, though not a rich man, saved enough money to send Rosalita to medical school back east.  Father and daughter stayed in contact, hearing from each other at least once a month, so when two months went by without word, Rosa knew something was wrong.  She left school before earning her certificate, however, she was able to convince her instructors to write a recommendation for apprenticeship before she made her hasty return to Nogales.

Her return was not a happy one.  Her father was missing, and no one seemed to have any information as to where he had gone, or what had happened to him, however, a couple of drifters related that word in the north was that he'd been shot and killed by the bounty he'd gone off in search of two months prior.  Determined to find out what had happened to Manuel, Rosa set about making her way north, and met up with the railroader Samson, who accompanied her to Maddis.  Low on money and even lower on leads, she approached the town's doctor, Doc Smythe, and asked about the possibilities of apprenticing under his tutelage.  By chance, the Doc was looking to sell his practice, and agreed to take Rosa on as his assistant until such time he deemed her proficient enough to practice on her own, and, more importantly, until such time he though she'd worked off the ownership of his practice.

Living in the Grand, Maddis' Hotel and Saloon,  Rosa works long hours for Doc Smythe during the week, being paid enough for room and board on top of her lease.  Occasionally, Rosa helps out at the Grand to earn a bit more money - both for her purchase of the practice, and to cover the expenses of her search for her father's killer.
